What Is OpusClip AI?
OpusClip is an AI video editing tool that takes lengthy videos like an hour-long interview and cuts them into multiple short clips suitable for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
For instance, you can take a video that's 1 hour long and turn it into 100 different short clips. OpusClip's AI will automatically cut it up, shorten them, and re-edit the clips to make them more engaging as short form content for social media.
We're using it as part of our AI advertising strategy, where we're using AI tools to automate the production of ads.
Opus Clip AI: Video Clipping Walkthrough

For this, we chose a raw, unedited 15-minute interview of our founder with one of our clients. This is an unprocessed video, so zero edits done to it so far.
OpusClip lets you upload and clip anything that are up to 30 GB in size and up to 10 hours long.
And as soon as the video is uploaded, you'll see how many credits it's going to use to edit the video into clips.
Genre

After uploading the video, you can instruct OpusClip with info on what type of video it is. You can choose from different genres, including:
Q&A.
Webinar.
Podcast, etc.
From our experience, we found it best to leave it at "Auto", as OpusClip has been doing a pretty good job at identifying the kind of video attached.
Clip Length

With this, you can adjust the length of clips you prefer.
For instance, if you want the clips to be under 30 seconds, you have the option for that. Or you can leave it at "Auto" and OpusClip will keep the clips up to 3 minutes as needed.
Keyword Focus

You can also instruct OpusClip to only focus on parts of the video where certain keywords are contained.
So, if you're clipping a podcast that talks about marketing, you can use "UGC" as your keyword and OpusClip will only clip parts of the video talking about UGC.
Presets

Then you have a few presets of designs you can choose for your clips. These are like giving your clips the kind of look and feel you want.
You can choose one from here and change later on if you need to. You also have the option to create your own template, like how we did with fonts and colours of our choice for subtitles.
Once you input these settings according to your preference, you can move on to actually clipping the video.
The time it takes to process depends on the video's size, but it took us 7 minutes to fully process a 15-minute video. In these 7 minutes, OpusClip got us 12+ short, fully edited clips of different varieties, which have all came out very well.
It automatically added the subtitles for each video clip, which are very on point. Like, we don't even have to change any of the words. It really did that part super well!
OpusClip AI: Extra Editing Features
If you want, you also have a few nifty editing features you can use after the clips are generated. Editing further will make your clips even more interesting.
These are AI-powered for the most part, so post-clipping edits are pretty easy and fast.
Editing With the Transcript

As soon as you go into the editor of a clip, you'll see its transcription on the left. This is the text in your subtitle.
You can double-click any word of this transcript to:
Edit or add more words.
Add emoji.
Highlight.
Censor.
Add AI b-roll, etc.
Each change you make here reflects in the video.
So, you can use the highlight option on a word and OpusClip will automatically highlight that word in the subtitle of the video.
Cropping

The original video we gave OpusClip was just a Zoom recording. But OpusClip actually identified what it was, and cropped it to fit media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
However, if you want a different aspect ratio or need to show a different part of the video in a selected clip, you can also do that.
You can either crop freely from the cropping option, or even change the layout from the layout settings.
So, the flexibility here is very good. But you can also make it easier and just let OpusClip do it on its own.
AI Enhancement

This is another handy feature that we like very much. There are a few things you can do here:
Speech enhancement: Improves the audio quality by removing any background noise, and making the sound quality much crisper and cleaner.
Filler words: Removes filler words from the video.
Pauses: Removes pauses within the video by creating jump cuts there.
These are repetitive tasks that would take an editor lots of time and make them bored. Now it's just automatically done in a matter of seconds, and OpusClip does do it very well!
B-Rolls
Adding b-rolls in a video is another tedious and repetitive part of the job. You need to source them and add them, and sourcing usually takes quite a lot of time.
But OpusClip automates if for you in two ways:
AI b-rolls: You can get an AI-generated b-roll.
Stock b-rolls: OpusClip will search and add stock b-rolls from the internet for you.
Either way, you can easily choose to add or delete b-rolls according to your preference.
Posting to Social Media

To make things even better, you can directly post to social media the clips you like. OpusClip will even automatically generate a caption depending on the video clip you're posting, which you can also edit before posting, of course!
Finally, the pricing. OpusClip has three main pricing tiers, and the one I've signed up for is the Pro plan.
It also has a free option, but it's very limited and contains watermark on the generated video clips.
Here's a detailed breakdown:
Free: $0/month.
Starter: $15/month.
Pro: Starting at $29/month, or $14.50/month when paid annually.
Business: Custom pricing.
The pricing gets a bit confusing with the Pro plan, as you have multiple pricing options within it.
Opus Clip AI Review: Our Feedback
Honestly, it’s kind of a game changer when it comes to content creation. Because back in the day, to do all of this, you probably needed three different people, like a creative director, a video editor, and a social media person.
But now, it's just you and OpusClip. You can do all of this in just a few minutes:
Chop and change your videos.
Create different variations from a single long form video.
Directly post to your social media channels.
So, for the price, this is incredible value for money compared to hiring a human team to deal with the same tasks as OpusClip.
It has saved us a lot of time and effort on ideation and just watching tons of hours of video content figuring out what is worthy of repurposing!
Two things OpusClip can improve on are:
Making the pricing easier.
Fixing the bugs.
The editing software can be a bit buggy sometimes, but it's very minimal. It's not something that could break your work, but a bit off-putting at first if you're not used to it.
But apart from that, we think it’s a great tool!
So, we're rating OpusClip 4.7/5.
